Hello. I am Claire Emmett, and welcome to my shop.

I did most of my growing up in the dense and sprawling suburbs surrounding New York City, where I somehow always found my way to the small pockets of nature that remained. You would most likely have found me up a tree, or combing through soil behind the ornamental shrubs in front of my house. I also was passionate about the visual arts, and that has stayed with me to this day. It is my enduring interest in the natural world that has largely shaped my art practice.

My life now is quite busy with the intensities of motherhood and work, and I find my connections with nature are often all too brief. When I started this project, I was looking for a way to distill these fleeting moments that I long for into something more tangible. I wanted to find a way to sustain them and to reflect on them. 

In doing so, I have discovered that, for me, nature is where my dual loves of science and mysticism meet. I have found out how to quell the feeling of separation from nature through artistic study. By doing so, I can weave my consciousness back into the land and the cosmos.
